Tennessee State Health Insurance Program
The State Health Insurance Information Program(SHIP), provides counseling, information and assistance with Medicare questions, prescription drug plan enrollment, Tenn-Care, Cover Tennessee and supplemental insurance.
The SHIP program is funded by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services through the Tennessee Commission on Aging & Disability. It seeks to let consumers and/or caregivers have the choice of receiving confidential assistance by telephone or at an on-site visit with the counselor to discuss their personal situation.
The program works closely with Medicare, the Social Security Administration, Tenn-Care and other service organizations to meet the needs of beneficiaries residing in the Southwest Tennessee service area of Chester, Decatur, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, McNairy and Madison counties.
